Lookin to buy

I presently Lease a 2004 FX and love it.I'm thinking about buying AN EX in the next couple of weeks. How's your Nav. packages working.Do they work as well as the dealer claims. My Buddy's Acura has a hard time Navigating Toronto and the voice activation is poor.Has any body had any brake problems. My FX went through Brakes like crazy.
What's the thing you like the least about your EX?
What's the thing you like the most?
R.S.V.P anyone!

Thumbs up EX35 questions

Hey Toronto Jim,
I have had my EX35 now since January. I love it, I had a G35x before this car. The Nav package is awsome, best I've seen. It Navigates Boston well, not sure how it would work in Toronto. Boston's streets are a nightmare, have had no problems so far. Only have 2,500 miles, no problems with brakes as of yet. The power is great, very fast. It does require premium gas. I fill the tank with 93 one week, then 89 the next week. I am getting an average of 20 miles/gallon, mixed hwy. and city miles. The interior space is a little snug, the rear is tight as well, for leg room. If you like the sound of the FX exhuast, you will miss that. The exhuast note is much more subdued. The car looks better in darker colors, I have the black on black. Also, it looks much better with the roof rails and cross bars. Looks less like a station wagon and more like a SUV/crossover. I love the wheels, make sure you get the 18's. They are very easy to keep clean, the brake dust does not stick to the wheels like it did on my G35 chrome wheels. Also, the lugs are covered with an Infiniti symbol cap, so you don't have to worry about cleaning in and around those. I used to go through wheel cleaner like crazy on my G. I have not had to spray the EX wheels once with cleaner. Just car wash and a sponge gets rid of the brake dust. If you need more space the FX is the way to go. The 09's have the exact same interior as the EX. I like the new FX, just don't like the front end and headlights. The Bose system is awesome, the 9.3 gig music box is great. The only option I did not get was the AVM and ICC package. I don't use cruise control often enough and the AVM is not refined enough yet, wait a few more years for them to improve the graphics on that. Good luck, you won't be disappointed if you purchase an EX.

my new ex35 experience

got my ex35 in March, everyone to my surprise comes up to tell me what a beautiful car, got the liquid graphite (gray) with all the chrome, looks diff from everything out there. As for Gas MPG I get 27-30 driving highway at 55-65 gets about 26 at 75 and I am averaging 24 in town with 1/2 1/2 street highway. much better MPG than I thought and I do 93/89 1/2 tank at a time but ran 93 the first month. You will get better MPG with 93
its smaller than some cars but I am 6'4" 280lbs and plenty of leg room in driver seat, back seat is great for kids, adults not so sure but mos t who buy ex are not hauling but 2 adults in the front. love the cargo area, not like my Mountaineer but big enough for a Lowe's trip LOL
the power at your foot is awesome handles great, smooth ride, quite except for the all seasonal s. Great visibility the front columns are small and after a large SUV I thought I could not drive a car, at least it sits higher than most sedans, but not big like the fx45. Just depends what you looking for. For me a lux sedan with
cargo tail gate was a nice transition. PS after Ford/Mercury the service dept and treatment is worth owning a lux car <G>

I've driven my father's new g35 in Toronto and the GTA. The Nav works great! Not sure about the voice activation. I don't he uses it much as the interface is otherwise pretty easy.

You might want to check out carcostcanada.com. It seemed that in the US there were some incentives like $2K off (in March, don't know if it's still valid), but not in Canada, so the "cost" report helped me get more than $2,500 off list.

Also (one thing I wish I'd known beforehand), try to get them to throw in the rubberized cargo tray for the trunk area. The list in Canada is around $150, but in the US it's $60 (go figure!?!), meaning there's plenty of margin ... you save and it doesn't cost them that much.

Good luck,
D.

Recording songs
1. Operate the audio system to play a CD.
2. Select the RECº key using the INFINITI
controller and push the ENTER button.
The system starts recording the track being
played and REC CD appears on the screen.
If the title information of the track being recorded
is stored either in the hard-disk drive or
in the CD, the title is automatically displayed on
the screen. For title acquisition from the harddisk
drive, music recognition technology and
related data are provided by GracenoteT.
To view the details of the track, select the Text
key by touching the screen or using the INFINITI
controller. The track name and album title are
displayed on the screen.
If a track is not recorded successfully due to
skipping sounds, the mark is displayed
behind the track number.

Automatic recording :
If the Automatic Recording function is turned
to ON, recording starts when a CD is inserted.
Stopping recording :

To stop the recording, select the
STOP button

by touching the screen or using the INFINITI

controller.

If the CD is ejected, the audio system is turned

off or the ignition switch is pushed to the OFF

position, the recording also stops.

You can find all of the above and more in the PDF below. Chapter 4.

Leased an EX35 Journey AWD Premium. Residuals are predicted to be high and the MF was very low, equivalent as 2.9% APR for my 36 month lease. The hard part was the negotiating, b/c they tried to push 39 months for lower residuals and higher MF. This was the only part that burned me. They wanted the talk about monthly amounts plus down payments and did not show their calculations, which I did while there. They would scribble on a piece of paper some numbers all over the place, to try to make it look like we were informed. When I went to Subaru and BMW, they printed out complete forums with all the numbers every time we changed a variable. For a Luxury Dealership, using typical car sales tactics was a turn off. Other than the sale, we were treated very nicely and never had to wait. There was always drinks, snacks, and very informative. The sales rep knew his product and sold it well.

As for the car itself, we love it. It is just me and my wife with no kids expected. We are active and slim and wanted an easy vehicle to drive. We wanted to downsize from our SUV but preferred to keep the utility of a hatchback or short wagon. We compared to a 328xi wagon, A3, WRX, outback, and RDX. We chose the EX35 becuase it looked elegant, strong engine, comfy ride, and that it was different than everyones X3 and RAV4 on the road. My cousin has a BMW 335i and had numerous problems (in the shop 3 times) while still under warranty, but reliability was not that important to us because it was a lease.

Definitely tighter than the small interior of our Jeep Grand Cherokee. But the interior is beautiful and very comfortable for me (6') and my wife (5'7"), but no one else inside. We drive around with the rear seats lowered because the rear headrests are big and hamper vision. Since the seats can be electronically repositioned, we like that it can be raised if necessary.

Make no illusion, this is a tall hatchback/wagon of the G35. It is not really a SUV because there is almost no more utility than a A3 in the back. Compared to rivals like the X3, RDX, soon to be released Q5, GLK, Tiguan, and (Porsche) Roxter, it has the tiniest interior with similar footprint. It should be faster than all but the roxter.

The seven speed auto (in the FX) should trickle down probably in a year, which should increase acceleration by a tick, but also MPG. I doubt the 3.7 will get implanted until a mild facelift in 2-3 years since the FX makes due with the 3.5 too. Also, why doesn't this car have HID headlights when the G35 has them as standard items?
