What should i get next?

So, i have a Jeep Grand Cherokee (JGC) with V8 and Quarda-drive. It can go anywhere as long as it is close to a gas station. My SUV gets ~12 MPG in the city and I average ~16 MPG overall. OUCH!!!! I am having problems selling this guy due to the gas prices, which will never go down.

My wife has the EX35 and our third vehicle is a Toyota Tacoma. I want to trade in my JGC for something else, smaller and fun to drive. I'm thinking like a '07 Mini Cooper S or Civic SI sedan. What do you guys think? Both get average 27-32 MPG and accelerate in less than 7 seconds. They are fun and reliable. Any opinions and options?

If i had the money, I'd get a BMW 135i, but another $40k would hurt.

Both the Mini Cooper S or Civic SI sedan are good options. Take a look at the MazdaSpeed 3. Also, the Mitsubishi Eclipse, they have both a six and four cylinder model. A two door sporty coupe, although American made, is the Chevy Cobalt SS. It does 0-60 in 5.5 seconds. Average fuel economy is 26 mpg's. It is highly rated in this months R&T. It has a 2.0 liter turbocharged ecotec engine, front wheel drive. Good luck, let us know what you decide on.

How about a Subie WRX STi? I would consider one that's a year or two old, bought from an original owner aged 40 or older.

I almost bought an '08 STi instead of the EX, but I was turned off due to: no sunroof, less luxury/toys and (the final clincher) the unwillingness of any dealer to stock a demo for test drives. (I just couldn't bring myself to drop $40-50K and without even DRIVING one!!)

I did think of that one as well. Was not sure of your age. That is a more tuner/boy racer. If you are interested in that, look at the Mitsu. Lancer EVO. Good luck.....

Thanks for the thoughts guys. I decided on another toy, a nice road bike (Cannondales) for my wife and me. Mileage varies depending on what I had for breakfast though. I'm also thinking about building one up too. Any cyclists out there, maybe an LBS owner?
